As part of the event, Tournament Director Iva Majoli announced the three new teams, revealing the full list of 12 players who will compete in the Hopman Cup 2023:

  • Denmark with Holger Rune (World N°8, 3 ATP titles including 1 Master 1000) & Clara Tauson (World N°139, EX-N°33 WTA, 2 WTA titles)
  • Belgium with David Goffin (World N°42, EX-N°7 ATP, 6 ATP titles) & Elise Mertens (N°39 World, EX-N°12 WTA, 7 WTA titles).
  • Croatia with Borna Coric (World No. 20, EX-No. 12 ATP, 3 ATP titles including 1 Master 1000) & Donna Vekić (World No. 20, EX-No. 19 WTA, 3 WTA titles)
  • Spain with Carlos Alcaraz (World No. 1 – Youngest ever World No. 1, 6 ATP titles including 1 US OPEN) & Paula Badosa (World N°29, EX-N°2 WTA, 3 WTA titles).
  • France with Richard Gasquet (World N°40, EX-N°7 ATP, 16 ATP titles) & Alizé Cornet (N°66 World, EX-N°11 WTA, 6 WTA titles).
  • Switzerland with Leandro Riedi (World N°126, EX-N°127 ATP, 2 ITF titles) & Belinda Bencic (World N°9, EX-N°4 WTA, 7 WTA titles – Winner of the last Hopman Cup and Olympic champion – Tokyo 2020).

Holger Rune, the up-and-coming young tennis talent, will therefore be in Nice in July 2023, alongside the youngest world number one in history, Carlos Alcaraz! These two champions are part of the international tennis elite, and they will be on the Nice LTC courts this summer for the return of the legendary tournament: the Hopman Cup!

The Dane, currently ranked No. 8 in the world, is a tennis player who has been on the professional circuit since 2020. In 2022, Holger Rune won his first Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy, beating Serbian Novak Djokovic in the final.

As stated by Kristoff Puelinckx, CEO of Tennium, the Hopman Cup ticketing is now open and can be found on the tournament website -> www.hopmancup.com

Note that for the first time in its history, the mixed team competition, which has always held a special place in the hearts of fans, will be played in Europe, in the south of France. As in previous editions of the Hopman Cup, each team will consist of one male and one female player, with matches between nations including a men’s singles match, a women’s singles match and a mixed doubles match.

Donna Vekić said: “It’s always been a dream of mine to play in this competition. I could have played in Perth, but it was a close call because I was a substitute. So I’m very happy to be able to represent Croatia and finally take part in this beautiful tournament”.

Holger Rune said: “Clara and I know each other very well, and I’m delighted to be able to play with her. We’ve played doubles on the junior circuit before and we were undefeated then! I am delighted to be able to participate in this competition, which I have always followed. As I remember Roger Federer’s matches very well”.

David Haggerty, ITF President, said: “Today’s announcement completes a fantastic line-up of teams for the return of the Hopman Cup, and with tickets going on sale today the anticipation ahead of the event is really starting to build. This is another of our events that gives players the opportunity to represent their countries and compete for something bigger than themselves – which has attracted some of the world’s biggest names to the tournament. The Hopman Cup has always been a special fixture on the annual tennis calendar and, along with our event partners Tennium, we are looking forward bringing it to Nice this year”.
