The champions celebrate

Lifting the trophy after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Germany in the final, Switzerland were popular winners of Mastercard Hopman Cup 2018.

It was the third title for the European nation, who last triumphed when a 19-year-old Roger Federer triumphed with Martina Hingis in 2001. Seventeen years on, the 19-time Grand Slam champion combined superbly with Belinda Bencic, the pair winning every mixed doubles rubber they contested at Perth Arena.

The only loss for Switzerland occurred in the final, when Bencic lost her singles rubber against Angelique Kerber. But with victory assured in the high-quality mixed doubles, few could doubt the convinced manner in which Switzerland forged further into Hopman Cup history.

Here’s how the champion pair celebrated.
