The Mastercard Hopman Cup 2018 field made a wise choice to start their season in Western Australia.
They have the glorious weather, a plethora of beaches to choose from and a variety of wildlife to meet.
We’ve had a cute quokka meet Roger Federer, jet skiing across the waves, a German surfing masterclass and even a skydive.
“I love coming back here. It’s my third year now,” said world No.4 Alexander Zverev fresh from his surfing trip at Trigg Beach. “The city is awesome.
“I always enjoy the beach, I really enjoy all water sports and activities. I was a bit embarrassed by Angie (Kerber), because it was her first time and she was better.”
Roger Federer was quick to hit West Australia’s hot spots, visiting Rottnest Island on his first full day in Perth.
“I love it here. It’s tennis time” said the 19-time Grand Slam champion. “It’s the perfect place to begin the Australian summer of tennis.”
The opportunity to represent Australia for a third consecutive year in 2018 was one that Daria Gavrilova – who teamed with Nick Kyrgios to win the 2016 title for Australia – quickly embraced.
“I always love coming back to Perth,” said Dasha after a jetskiing adventure with Thanasi Kokkinakis at Hillarys. “It’s such a nice city and we definitely get looked after.”
