Returning for the second consecutive year, Spanish left-hander Fernando Verdasco is a player not to be missed. Best known for his powerful groundstrokes, Verdasco is capable of beating anyone on his day. In 2012 he made it to the quarterfinals or better at six ATP World Tour events and was a finalist in Acapulco. An Australian Open 2009 semifinalist in 2009, Verdasco will be looking to use Perth as the perfect springboard into the 2013 season.
