The seeded nations are determined by the seeding committee of Tournament Director, Paul McNamee, Assistant Tournament Director, Rob Casey and former Australian Player Geoff Masters.
The order of matches in each tie is the women’s singles, the men’s singles and the mixed doubles. All matches are the best of three sets, with the exception of the mixed doubles, which uses the Match Tie-break (the first team to reach 10 points) if the match is tied at one set all.
The leading teams in each group after three round-robin matches qualify for the Final. Hyundai Hopman Cup has prizemoney of AU$1-million.
For twenty one years the Hopman Cup has been serving up the very best in international tennis to the sport-loving Western Australian public. No less than 21 world number 1 ranked players, including legends such as Boris Becker, Steffi Graf, Serena Williams and John McEnroe have thrilled the packed crowds at the Burswood Dome. The International Tennis Federation (ITF), the governing body of the sport is continuing to provide ongoing stability and spearhead the International exposure for the event.

Hyundai have committed their Title Sponsorship until 2013, making it one of the longest Title Sponsorships in Australian Sport.

With live national coverage on the ABC, the Hyundai Hopman Cup continues to enjoy its status as the most televised weekly sporting event in Australia.

The Western Australian Government through EventsCorp has committed to support the Hyundai Hopman Cup to at least 2013. Together with the support of Burswood Entertainment Complex the event will be staged at the Dome for two more events. Upon completion of the Government funded new multi-purpose arena with a retractable roof, the Hyundai Hopman Cup will then move to their new home, the Perth Arena. This will position the Hyundai Hopman Cup as the only lead-in event to the Australian Open that has identical conditions as the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne (same court surface, played in a venue with a retractable roof).

Operating out of Melbourne, PME is able to assist organisations and athletes in a wide range of areas based on 30 years experience in professional sport and event management.
