Sabine Lisicki
Courtside
Ladies and gentlemen, 2 wins from 2 singles matches so far, could you put your hands together once again for Sabine Lisicki.
Sabine, your form is good so far, but going out against a fifteen year old you hadn’t seen her play before, what did you make of that first set?
I think it’s different to play against a lefty, I haven’t played a lefty in a while. After the first set I think I got used to it pretty well and I got into my game pretty good.
You got into a bit of trouble at the back end of the first set though, you were down a break and Laura was serving for the set. What were you thinking then?
I think I made too many easy mistakes and that’s why I got broken. I kept fighting and I knew that I could come back and I think I came back pretty strong.
Well you did and we’re going to have a look at the big screen at a couple of those fight back moments. You went to your backhand, you love that shot and you really attacked on that side. You were down the break, then when you were level and then in the tie break. Three backhands and they really did it for you.
Yeah especially with her lefty it was a little bit different. That was a good shot. I think it was very important at that point so I’m glad that I pulled it out. I played pretty well towards the end so it’s good.
And we had you here last year and your dad is your coach, what would he say about this performance? What would his assessment be do you think?
Well I will see. It’s still the beginning of the year so it’s still the second match. You make some mistakes you shouldn’t make. I’m looking forward to the next matches so I think he’ll give me some comments and that will be it.
And if you had one wish for 2010, in tennis terms, what would it be?
To get as close to the top ten as possible.
As close to the top ten as possible, I think you might do that. Just a word about the mixed doubles – you’re going to be facing Andy Murray. Are you going to be hitting a few hard at him?
Well it’s the mixed doubles and I’m going to go out not afraid of playing mixed. I’m really looking forward to that mixed.
