Well ladies and gentlemen for the second time this week would you congratulate your winner Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez. Well how about this start to the tournament, you’re playing well.

Yes well at least I won my two first matches of the year and these matches give you confidence.

What most pleased you today about your game?

Well I think the goal of my game is to play different – sometime lines, sometimes come to the net, and sometimes play in the back of the court to change the game.

Maria Jose, have a look at the screen, our favourite moment from the first set today, it’s a terrific scramble and a shuffle back over the net. Tell us about this.

Well I just hit the ball without looking. I don’t know how I did this.

Terrific reflexes, very enjoyable. Have you told Tommy Robredo what’s required? There are tennis balls encrusted with diamonds as a trophy at the end of the week and your holding up your part.

Well we are on the way. I would like to have that ball of course.

You seem to combine very well in the mixed doubles. Were you comfortable together the other day?

Yes it is the first time that I played with Tommy in doubles but we are both good in doubles so we can play good.

And have you had time for anything other than tennis here in Perth so far?

We just focus on the tournament, we don’t have a lot of times.
