Well the Hopman Cup folks, that’s what it’s all about, the decisive mixed doubles. Did you enjoy that one? That’s probably the best mixed doubles we’ve had here in years. A tough result Sabine there in the mix, you look as though you were enjoying it out there. It was terrific tennis.
(Lisicki) Of course, it’s been fun out there with Philipp. A little bit unlucky in the end but that’s sport. Unfortunately only one can win.
Well it was played in a great spirit. I think the whole four of you really enjoyed playing, because you don’t play a lot of mixed doubles.
(Lisicki) No it’s actually my second time after last years Hopman Cup. Its fun I enjoyed it a lot so I’m looking forward to the next one.
The singles today, was that as good as you’ve played?
(Lisicki) Well I’ve been working hard and I want to get up there in the rankings, so I’m very happy with that result. I’m looking forward to the next season.
Well you lost this one today – the match, but you’re still in the contest so we’ll looking forward to seeing you later in the week. Philipp it was a good performance today but a tough one in the mixed doubles.
(Kohlschreiber) It was not tough, like you said; it was great to be out there. Fantastic balls we played and I thought we could always win but in the end a little bit of luck was missing today.
You had a chance in the singles, you got it back to a set – all and a then tough third set.
(Kohlschreiber) Yeah a tough set. I would say just one really bad game and that kills you at the end. Igor served well and played aggressive and I had no chance to come back. I guess today the drinks are on me. For my team she did everything she could and I was the bad person today.
Well I’m sure Paul McNamee will take care of the drinks for you. Well done and we look forward to seeing you in the rest of the week.
Now the winners and what an exciting day it has been. That’s the beauty of the Hopman Cup. You folks always enjoy staying here till the very last ball is hit and an exciting day we’ve had today. Elena, a tough one in the singles. Sabine just cracked her forehands every which way.
(Dementieva) Yeah I think he played very well today. She has a very powerful baseline game, very good serves. It was the first match for me of the season so I just wish I have a little bit more preparation to get ready for such a good match.
Well that’s why you came here to get some good matches. We’re very happy to have you here at the Hopman Cup. Mixed doubles, you don’t play mixed very often.
(Dementieva) Actually I haven’t played doubles and doubles games for a long, long time, so it was very exciting to play with Igor today. Its lots of fun especially hitting against the guy, so I’m looking forward to playing some more double mixed here.
Well you girls always seem to want to do that.
Come here Igor, don’t go running away, I just want to ask you a question. You made a comment that it was very difficult to play with the women. What was so tough about this today?
(Andreev) It’s tough because you never know where the ball is going to go. So it’s tough, yes.
Well you seemed to come through it alright. A very exciting mixed doubles. I think it’s one of the best mixed doubles we’ve had here at the Hopman Cup and I’m sure the crowd appreciated it.
(Andreev) It was great. I’m tired but really happy after a mixed two hours. It was a great time, good matches. The coaches had a good time as well. By the way, here is the best coaches’ box in the world - three bottles of champagne and some wines, so they had a good time.
The coaches have had a good time. So while you guys were out here doing all the hard work, the coaches were up there enjoying their refreshments.
Yes and they asked us “Could you stay a little bit more on the court because we are enjoying the time here”. So we tried to do the best we could for them
Play a third set so I can have another bottle?
Yeah so maybe next time I’ll play best of five here.
The singles today you played very well. You’ve had a lot of victories over Philipp and a very tough one today.
It was a good match and especially because it was the first one and you never know what to expect. It was a good start to the season. We won today and we have good chances to be through to the final.
Well I know that this is your first time you’ve been out here, but have you seen those beautiful trophies over there? Because I know you like the diamonds and all that kind of stuff. Those beautiful trophies over there are pretty good.
(Dementieva) I’m working hard for them
(Andreev) We are working together very hard for the trophy.
