Ladies and gentlemen would you give him a big hand, he’s levelled the tie for Russia – Igor Andreev.
Igor, the first match of 2010, what did you make of your own performance?
Well I’m really happy that it was a good win today. It was really tough out there for both of us and I think we played some good points. I’m really happy to start the year a first victory.
You were just telling me it’s -20 (degrees) in Moscow compared to these conditions, two hours on court – how are you feeling?
Its better here, a little warmer. I’m feeling well. Just a few problems with my sleep, you know the change in hours is not easy. I’m happy to start with a victory and hopefully in the mixed we have good chances.
You now have an amazing record against Philipp - eight times you’ve played him and 8 wins. What is it about your games that seem to favour you?
Well Philipp is always so nice with me. You never know the kind of game style he is playing; maybe it’s a little bit more comfortable for me. But I have players sometimes that I’m down 0-10, so you never know. Hopefully it continues like this with Philipp.
You look like you’ve started the season very fit. We’ll show you a moment from the second set; I think it was 1 all. Your court coverage is outstanding at the moment. Your movement around the court, you’re very fast on your feet.
I was lucky there.
You’re too modest. What are your plans for 2010? What would you like to achieve?
Well the usual answer to everything – I want to win Grand Slams, I want to win all the tournaments and everything. You never know, you just try to play your best tennis. After one win comes another win, so we’ll take everything step by step and never stop. I’ll try to do as many things as I can.
And what do you think about playing mixed with Elena?
Well playing with a woman is never easy so... I will try and support her and she will support me and we can win a few games. You never know.
Go out there and enjoy it. Thank you for the wonderful match you gave us today. Igor Andreev.
