Sabine Lisicki
Courtside

Ladies and Gentlemen, Sabine Lisicki. Now that was a great way to start the year.

Oh yeah. I am very happy with that win and I’ve been working really hard in the last few weeks and off season. I’m really happy to win that match and this win.

You had great timing and great power which does speak of preparation. How hard has the work been in the recent weeks?

It has been very hard, but it has been fun as well, which for me is very important. I enjoyed being out here, so its great.

To dominate one of the world’s best players – it’s going to give you a lot of confidence for the summer.

Yes of course, that’s where we were working towards. I want to get higher in the rankings, I did a great jump last year and I’m looking forward to this year.

Sabine let’s have a look together at some of your work, particularly the return of serve, which you really had measured up beautifully.

I’ve been working really, really hard and it’s getting better and better. So it’s great to have a weapon like that.

And Philipp Kohlschreiber was banging down serves for you to practice on today?

Yes he was, actually yesterday morning. It has been great and we’re looking forward to the matches and mixed doubles as well.

Sabine you really enjoyed your time in Perth last year. It was only injury that really affected your chance of playing in the final - I imagine it was an easy decision to come back again this year?

Yes of course. It’s fun to play here in front of all you guys. Its fun and I’ve been really looking forward to coming back. It’s great.

And did you get to the beach yesterday?

Yes I did, actually two days ago. It was really nice, I enjoyed it. I hadn’t been last year so I said this year “OK, I have to go”.

And I’m sure you got a tick of approval from dad when you go back to the locker room.

Yep, I hope so.

Well done.
