2/01/2008 - A Real Pain in the Butt for Jankovic
The pain Jankovic sustained in the second or third point when lunging for a backhand was like a knife in the “glute” (right buttock) and she immediately called for the trainer. She was worried about the implications of the injury and had to retire from her singles match, but after a medical scan cleared any muscle tear she fought back for the mixed doubles.

World number 3, Jelena Jankovic had a tough first match against her Chinese Taipei opponent Su-Wei Hsieh, but won 6-4, 6-4. It was also Jankovic's first match of the year, and one of the greatest moments representing her country. Serbia won the tie 3-0 and play France on Wednesday.
